6 Months Supported Stand

This is a simple and typical baby book layout, not much story behind it.  It was just funny that he first stood supported on the day he turned 6 months.

What’s special about this layout for me though, is I didn’t plan it!  Woohoo!  When I worked on the previous layout, the travel page, I didn’t have enough photos to fill a 8×10 photo paper, so I grabbed one of his 6-month photo and made it large enough to fill the photo paper.  That happened to be slightly larger than 4×6.  A few days later I printed the other photo on a 4×6 photo paper.  That’s it, the photo sizes were decided without any plan or sketch.  Coincidentally, October Afternoon had a color challenge on their blog, with chartreuse, gray and aqua.  That was their written description.  But the colors on my screen looked more like yellow, gray and green.  The minute I saw that, I knew I would use those colors for this layout, because I remembered his onesie in this layout was gray, and the carpet was yellow-ish.  With colors and photo sizes determined, I felt I could proceed without other plans.

For layouts without much journaling, it’s pretty easy to just go with the flow. But I don’t think I can do this if I want a lot of journaling. Now I wonder if I should submit it to the challenge. Will this layout look chartreuse, gray and aqua to them?

Below:  The flag was originally a “DREAM BIG” label sticker from My Mind’s Eye.  I wrapped it around a toothpick and turned it into a flag.  I know “DREAM B” doesn’t make much sense, but hopefully nobody would think too much about it.  Did you notice the washi tape I slipped in?  It’s hard to find a layout from me without some washi tape.

Notice the washi tape?

Below:  I added a black star to the 3D sticker because I felt like the bottom was too light.  That was before I added the handwritten journaling at the bottom.  Because of the gray border and the gray flag on top, my layout was top (visually) heavy.  So I added the embellishment, felt it was still lacking, slapped on the black star I punched out, still not enough, and finally added the journal in black.
